Chemical peels · esthetician or nurse · October to April
Superficial peels by an esthetician for dullness, uneven tone and mild breakouts; medium-strength peels by our nurse, under the medical director's protocol, for deeper sun damage and marks. All of them booked when the sun is low.

Results vary from person to person. Nothing on this page is a promise of an outcome, and a treatment may be postponed or declined if your skin is not ready for it.
Why it works
A peel removes the top layers of skin so fresher skin replaces it. That new skin is more sensitive to sun for weeks, and Charleston summer sun on fresh skin is how dark marks get darker. So peels here run from October to April, and the stronger ones only after a consult.
The strength matters more than the name. Superficial peels are gentle, repeatable and safe for most skin with a good routine. Medium-strength peels do more and need more care, which is why a nurse performs them under a physician's protocol and why we sometimes say not yet.
Two weeks of a simple routine and daily sunscreen before the first peel.
Applied, timed and neutralised in the room, with a fan and a cool compress.
Gentle routine and strict sunscreen until the skin settles, usually a week.

Illustrative stories. Seaholly is a fictional studio; these are written examples, not client reviews.
Four superficial peels between November and February. By spring my skin looked even again and I had not peeled in public once.
Theo said no to a medium peel in May. In October he said yes. The marks are lighter and I trust him.
After superficial peels, usually light flaking for a few days. After medium-strength peels, visible peeling for several days. The aftercare card shows what to expect.
Because fresh skin and Charleston summer sun is the fastest way to darker marks.

Many are, with the right acid and strength and a careful lead-in. The consult decides, and we would rather go gentler.
Superficial peels usually in a series of four, two to four weeks apart. Medium-strength peels one or two a season.
